Designing a kitchen that seamlessly blends timeless character with modern sophistication is no small feat. In this project, our goal was to create an open-plan kitchen for a contemporary family home—one that honours traditional design principles while embracing sleek, modern living. The result is a refined and highly functional space that perfectly balances classic elegance with cutting-edge innovation.
The Design Brief: Where Tradition Meets Modern Living
The client envisioned a kitchen that felt warm and familiar, yet distinctly current. To achieve this, we reimagined the classic Shaker aesthetic with a contemporary twist—introducing handleless cabinetry for a streamlined, minimalist appearance without losing the charm of traditional craftsmanship.
Clean lines and uncluttered surfaces were central to the brief. A carefully considered floating shelf, crafted from matching worktop material, enhances the sense of openness while offering subtle, practical storage. The overall design creates a space that feels both inviting and architecturally refined—ideal for modern family life and open-plan living.

Every element of this kitchen has been meticulously selected to deliver both durability and visual impact:
- Cabinetry: Caledonia Smooth Painted “Deveron” Shaker doors in Farrow & Ball’s rich Studio Green, paired with a powder-coated, colour-matched handle rail for a seamless look
- Worktops: 30mm quartz surfaces, chosen for their resilience and understated luxury
- Island: A multifunctional centrepiece featuring integrated breakfast bar seating—perfect for casual dining and social interaction
- Hob: A flush-fitted venting hob by Bora, maintaining clean sightlines while delivering exceptional performance
- Sink: Shaws undermounted ceramic sink in classic white, adding a timeless touch
- Appliances: Fully integrated Siemens dishwasher for a cohesive aesthetic
- Tap: Quooker 3-in-1 boiling water tap in stainless steel—combining convenience with striking design
